Amentum Software Security Engineer in Norfolk, Virginia
Amentum is seeking a skilled Software Security Engineer with a strong background in developing REST API backends using ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET Core in support of the warfighter. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of software security principles and experience in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and security of our software applications.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain REST API backends using ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET Core, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
Identify, analyze, and mitigate software security vulnerabilities using tools such as Fortify SCA.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Conduct security assessments, vulnerability testing, and code reviews to ensure compliance with best security practices.
Stay updated with the latest security trends, threats, and technology solutions to enhance our software security posture.
Provide guidance and training to development teams on secure coding practices and security-focused development methodologies.
Document security processes and policies and participate in incident response as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Active Secret US Government security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and minimum 2 years of job-related experience.
2+ years of experience in developing REST API backends using ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET Core.
2+ years of experience in identifying and mitigating software security vulnerabilities using tools such as Fortify SCA.
Strong understanding of web application security principles and best practices (OWASP Top Ten, etc.).
Experience with secure coding practices and familiarity with security frameworks and technologies.
Proficiency in version control systems, such as Git.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Current Security+ CE certification (required within 6 months of hire date) or relevant higher-level certification in software security (CISSP, CEH, CISA, etc.).
Familiarity with cloud security and DevSecOps practices.
Experiencing developing Unit Tests such as MSTets, xUnit, or nUnit.
