Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Norfolk, Virginia. The role is in the construction industry and involves maintaining accurate financial management reports and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of Accounts Payable, purchase orders, and payroll related taxes. The Controller will also be responsible for assisting in the preparation of annual budgets, reviewing and recording journal entries, preparing monthly financial statements, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the accurate and timely processing of Accounts Payable, purchase orders, and payroll related taxes
• Maintain accurate and timely financial management reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and audits
• Review and record journal entries required to reflect monthly activity
• Prepare documentation supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances
• Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls and processes to improve the close and reporting cycles
• Ensure accurate and timely production of all financial information
• Work with the CFO to develop accurate and timely work and facilitate monthly reporting to executive management
• Perform cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize the return on any excess cash balances
• Assist with acquisition activities, including developing financial models, due diligence reviews, and integration activities
Skills:
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Knowledge of Auditing and Budget Processes
• Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress, Job Cost, and Month End Close processes
• Ability to prepare Financial Statements.

Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position
• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning and ERP Solutions
• Demonstrated skills in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Strong background in Auditing
• Familiarity with Budget Processes
• Experience with WIP - Work In Progress and Job Cost
• Ability to perform Month End Close procedures
• Proficient in Financial Statement Preparation
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Strong analytical and strategic planning abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
