The Role: Specialist II, IT Project Management, OCTO PMO, MI Technology

The Team: The PMO team in Office of the CTO is responsible for guiding and supporting the technology functions to deliver multi-year strategic technology initiatives and programs of work across the division. As a team, we work with all groups, including software development, IT Infrastructure, and business management to provide structure and transparency to senior leadership.

The Impact:

The OCTO PMO team is looking for a motivated individual with strong analytical and communication skills who can demonstrate experience in project management and stakeholder management.

As part of the MI technology function, we play a critical role in helping to deliver the key cross business line technology initiatives that help to drive the improvements for our businesses and clients.

Job Complexity:

  • Achieve personal objectives and contribute to the achievement of team objectives.

  • Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.

  • Solves a range of routine problems and analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.

  • Solves problems with general oversight or interaction on routine work and with detailed instructions on new work assignments.

Knowledge:

  • Review and analyze project data and information to provide status updates, insights, and conclusions.

  • Continue to build knowledge and expertise of products, services, content, and methodologies offered by the business area.

  • Integrate project management activities for multiple projects.

  • Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Stream ownership and management covering combination of small and medium sized projects from inception, through planning, into execution and successful delivery.

  • Meet project deadlines, identify project obstacles, proactively mitigate risks, and escalate and resolve issues effectively.

  • Liaise with internal and/or external stakeholders to provide expertise and input where necessary.

  • Good client facing skills and the ability to work/communicate with global stakeholders is essential.

  • Technical competency to troubleshoot and understand common problems and communicate to team.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, leading a portfolio of IT projects across various technologies, identify and escalating risks and issues when required.

  • Able to produce structured project plans, clear communications, regular project reporting, risk analysis and resource management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Analytical and well organized with a proven ability to work independently.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in Business, Finance or Technology preferred.

  • Knowledge of technical project management and IT processes.

  • Experience in a financial firm is desired.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage stakeholder relationships.

  • Flexibility and positive attitude towards meeting tight deadlines.
