Position Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Copywriter is responsible for assisting with text creation for all marketing initiatives. The Copywriter will report to and work collaboratively with the Senior Copywriter. This creative production role is focused on copy development and quality enhancement including creating, editing, proofreading content across many marketing mediums. The Copywriter will provide original options for creative copy with a strategic approach to engaging target audiences while adhering to advertising principals and following evolving corporate marketing initiatives. This position requires attention to detail to ensure error free copy with brand and campaign accuracy while meeting tight deadlines. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce creative messaging, copy resources and craft thoughtful and targeted messaging that add to the guest experience to increase traffic and engagement.

  • Adhere to established brand guidelines and voice for each entity.

  • Research industry-related topics and identify gaps in content.

  • Adhere to brand positioning at every point of contact.

  • Utilizing parameters set forth in creative briefs, write clear, attractive engaging copy.

  • Ensure all content is current and up-to-date including proper typefaces, colors, logos and brand voice, for all brand entities.

  • Attend all related marketing meetings and other communications-related meetings as assigned.

  • Maintain high standards of writing and performance.

  • Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy. Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to fellow team members and communicate in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times. Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and staff.

  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.

  • Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.

  • Duties, responsibilities, requirements and expectations pertaining to this job are subject to change as needed. Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule.

  • Additional duties as deemed by the Executive Director of Advertising & Communications.

    Position Requirements

    Each position has varying minimum qualifications. In the absence of fully qualified candidates, some requirements may be waived.

Education/Experience:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older upon employment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications/Broadcasting/Journalism/Marketing/Advertising or related discipline.

  • Must have a portfolio of Copywriting samples for review.

  • Job experience in copywriting a plus.

  • Radio/TV script writing a plus.

  • Experience in writing dynamic content for digital a plus.

  • Must possess an expert-level command of the English language.

  • Casino Marketing and or agency experience a plus.

  • Ability to operate in a high volume, fast pace agency type setting.

  • Must be able to accept creative criticism and direction altering guidance.

  • Must have experience with Content Management systems

  • Must have understanding of SEO function, and the ability to write creative copy for both long-form pieces of content (Promotion, property or product descriptions, blog articles) and short-form pieces (social media posts, headlines, billboards, etc.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to substantiate a safe driving record within the parameters acceptable to our liability insurance carrier.

  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Creative Suite applications, highly preferred.

  • References required.
