Grant Thornton Chief Product Officer in Newport Beach, California

As Chief Product Officer, reporting into the Chief Information Officer, you will get the opportunity to establish and lead our internal Product function, driving innovation and digital transformation across Tax, Audit, Advisory, and Internal Services. You'll shape the strategic direction of our product portfolio, leading a diverse organization of 100 professionals organized across business units and technical capabilities. Your vision and leadership will be instrumental in growing our firm by revolutionizing how we deliver value through products, ultimately enhancing our practitioners' effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Your Day-to-Day May Include:

  • Developing and executing the firm's internal product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with overall firm objectives and the unique needs of Tax, Audit, Advisory, and Internal Services

  • Leading and mentoring a diverse organization including Product Owners for each line of business, Technical Leadership, and Process/Support functions, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement

  • Collaborating with C-suite executives and business unit leaders to identify strategic opportunities for product-driven transformation and secure buy-in for major initiatives

  • Working with the technology leader in establishing product development frameworks, governance structures, and metrics that balance agility with the rigorous requirements of a regulated professional services environment

  • Overseeing the allocation of product investments across business pods, ensuring optimal resource distribution and ROI across the portfolio

  • Building strategic relationships with key technology vendors and partners,

  • Participating in firm leadership committees and industry forums to shape the direction of product innovation in professional services

  • With the rest of the technology leaders, fostering strategic partnerships across the organization, to ensure alignment on technology strategy, architecture, and delivery capabilities

  • Building strong relationships with key corporate functions including Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, HR, and Operations to ensure product initiatives meet enterprise requirements while driving business value

  • Collaborating with business unit leadership in Tax, Audit, and Advisory to identify opportunities for product-driven innovation and ensure solutions meet practitioner needs

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with product leaders at peer firms to stay current with industry trends and best practices

  • Overseeing talent acquisition and development strategies for the Product organization

  • Other duties as assigned

You Have the Following Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred

  • 15+ years of progressive product management experience, with at least 5 years in senior product leadership roles (VP+ level)

  • Significant experience (8+ years) in Big 4 or other major professional services firms preferred, with deep understanding of Tax, Audit, and Advisory services

  • Proven track record of building and scaling product organizations, preferably in traditional professional services environments

  • Strong understanding of professional services regulatory environment and implications for internal product development

  • Experience managing large, distributed teams (75+ people) across multiple disciplines and geographies

  • Deep expertise in modern product development methodologies and their application in enterprise environments

  • Strong technical acumen with demonstrated ability to evaluate and guide implementation of emerging technologies

  • Track record of successful organizational transformation and change management at scale

  • Outstanding executive presence and communication skills, with ability to influence C-suite stakeholders

  • Experience managing product budgets

  • Strong understanding of AI and automation technologies and their application in professional services

  • Proven ability to recruit and develop high-performing product talent

  • Experience collaborating with risk management and regulatory compliance functions

  • Professional certifications in relevant areas (e.g., CPA, PMP, Agile) highly valued

  • Strategic mindset with ability to balance innovation with practical constraints of professional services environment

  • Can travel as needed (25%)

The base salary range for this position in the firm's San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA offices is between $301,900 and $503,100.

The base salary range for this position in the firm's Los Angeles, CA; Newport Beach, CA; and San Diego, CA; Bellevue, WA; New York, NY and Melville, NY offices is between $283,500 and $472,500.

The base salary range for this position in the firm's Denver, CO; Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD offices is between $262,500 and $437,500.
