Thornton Tomasetti, Inc. seeks Senior Designers in New York, NY.

  • Prepare analysis and designs for building elements and systems.
  • Conduct site surveys, observations, and condition assessments of structures.
  • Coordinate all activities with project manager and other design engineers or architects and communicate and coordinate with clients and consultants including architects, civil, MEP
  • engineers, cost estimators, and adjusters to ensure clear understanding of project goals and expectations.
  • Analyze building systems including, architectural systems, and geometry.
  • Synthesize large sets of drawings and interprets how each relate to each other.
  • Create models for analysis, illustrations, and presentations.
  • Review litigation documentation and assist in preparing reports and research and interpret applicable building codes.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of construction documents and reports with clients, and internal quality staff.
  • Back-checks plan mark-ups and complete drafting.
  • Perform construction administration services on assigned projects and in this regard, responds to RFIs from contractors and subcontractors.
  • Organize and maintain logs and files for structural/architectural submittal.
  • Attend construction meetings and visits job site at major stages and phases.
  • Communicate with contractors and prepare field reports for clients.
  • Performs site-observation for projects as assigned.
  • Mentor other employees on various design techniques, TT design standards, codes and software applications.
  • Develop drawings and spreadsheets to create new standards.


Requires a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related field (or foreign equivalent) plus two years of related experience. Requires 2 years of experience in gathering field information to create a detailed set of drawings and specifications; 2 years of experience in preparing report of findings, analyzing conditions observed and providing recommendations for further action; 2 years of experience in building construction details to observe in progress construction and direct contractor to correct construction mistakes/defects; 2 years of experience in AutoCad; 2 years of experience in Revit; 2 years of experience in project management tools including field wire to document field conditions and manage reports; and 2 years of experience in building codes.

40 hours/week. The compensation for this role is $86,466 per year. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Compensation
The rate for this position generally is$86,466-$86,466.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation.Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted byNew YorkEqual Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
