Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ph.D. in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, or bioinformatics/computational biology

  • Statistical programming skills (R)

  • Programming/Scripting skills (Python/Shell/Others)

  • Knowledge of computing in a cluster environment

  • Knowledge of study design

  • Strong research experience in large-scale genome-wide association analysis (GWAS) of common and rare variants (both NGS and chip-based genotype data)

  • Strong research experience in analysis of large-scale genomic datasets (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, ATAC-Seq, HiC, etc)

  • Strong research experience in post-GWAS analysis (e.g., locus-to-gene mapping and fine-mapping) by integration of genomic datasets

  • Strong research experience in Mendelian Randomization and/or Polygenic Risk Scores (preferred)

    • or -
  • Strong research experience in single-cell genomic data analysis (preferred)

  • Self-motivated and highly dedicated

  • Effective organizational and prioritization skills

  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

The salary range for this role is $58,661.00 - $60,788.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits **Responsibilities** **Description** To fulfill the mission of the Ronald M. Loeb Center for Alzheimer’s Disease, Drs. Alison Goate and Edoardo Marcora (in the Departments of Genetics and Genomic Sciences and of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City) are searching for a creative and motivated postdoctoral scientist with diverse experiences and interests in genetics and genomics to join an interdisciplinary team to transform genetic discoveries into testable therapeutic hypotheses and early stage drug discovery efforts. We are looking for a statistical geneticist, genetic epidemiologist, biostatistician or bioinformatician/computational biologist with extensive experience in analyzing and interpreting human genetic data in association with complex disease and disease-associated molecular and cellular traits that are relevant to disease pathogenesis (e.g., eQTLs and epigenomic annotations, clinical data, bulk and single cell transcriptomic signatures and/or cellular phenotypes from genetic or drug perturbation screens, etc). The position will involve collaboration with dry- and wet-lab biologists to generate new mechanistic insights in disease etiology and progression, and translation to therapeutic strategies. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative research team that includes geneticists, computational biologists, immunologists, neuroscientists, and physician-scientists at the Ronald M.
