Job Title: CleanerGrade: 5Salary: $33,448 - $39,544The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time Cleaner position at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.Under the supervision of a supervising Housekeeper a cleaner performs a variety of manual tasks requiring physical efforts in cleaning an assigned area/ areas on a full-time basis. Areas that are covered include offices, public areas, patient units, labs, clinics, etc.The chosen candidate must possess the ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. The chosen candidate must have the ability to stand, bend, stretch for long periods of time and to perform medium to heavy manual labor, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. A working knowledge of various cleaning substances and the ability to use various cleaning equipment is necessary as well.Duties and Responsibilities:Performs a variety of routine manual work under the supervision of the Supervising housekeeper including but limited to:•Picking up and removing of waste and placing them in the appropriate areas.•Using mops, broom, buffers, scrubbers and other cleaning equipment that washes the floor, corridors, stairs and stairwells, wails, windows etc.•Use manual and and/or mechanical equipment to strip, vacuum, shampoo carpets and wax floors•Use equipment such as ladders to wash and dust high places like ceilings, windows and air vents.•May have to work in laboratories, inpatient clinics/outpatient clinics and other hospital areas where high degrees of cleanliness are required.•Work with cleaning agents including TB quarts/disinfectant, floor striper, floor wax, Ajax, Liqui-Bac, and D-Molish enzymatic digester.Minimum Qualifications:Must be able to work Weekends and HolidaysWork Location: 1051 Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10032To Apply: Submit an application through our website at https://nyspi.applicantpro.com/jobs/.
