Synchrony AVP, VDI Product Engineer in New York, New York

Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, VDI Product Engineer will be a member of a team responsible for designing, building, deploying and the day to day operations of Synchrony's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environment. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of VDI Infrastructure and is expected to work with VDI Support team to troubleshoot applications, access issues and applying necessary updates with hotfixes to the infrastructure environment. Additionally, this role will require infrastructure planning, operational analysis, development, testing, technical documentation and reporting skills.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage physical and virtual servers with multiple OS's, includes provisioning, monitoring, governance and upgrades.

  • Deploy and manage VDI environments utilizing publish desktops and publish applications to make available to users both internally and externally.

  • Experience in deploying provisioning services both Citrix MCS and PVS.

  • Project lead for migrating legacy core applications into new OS platform for virtualization delivery into warehouses and corporate locations.

  • Carry out OS and software upgrades as required.

  • Skilled in document management using applications such as SharePoint.

  • Work with hardware and software vendors to troubleshoot problems.

  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting analysis and resolution of VDI, OS, and applications issues.

  • Create knowledge base articles (KB's) for help desk and Level 2 team to troubleshoot any known issues.

  • Contribute to the evaluation and recommendations of the Virtualization strategy.

  • Coordinate with desktop team to ensure that application packaging request are aligned to business requirements.

  • Familiarity with the Windows OS including tools like powershell, wireshark, perfmon etc..

  • Close team interaction and partnering with other teams located in US and across the globe.

  • Experience using logging and monitoring tools like splunk, EG Innovations, New Relic and Citrix Monitoring.

  • Good understanding of AWS services like AWS AppStream, AWS Workspaces (regular and core), Microsoft VDI, FSlogix, NetApp and Citrix etc. hosted on Cloud providers with a working experience with AWS and Azure.

  • Experience using agile process using applications like Jira.

  • Familiar with ITIL process using tools like Service Now.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and a minimum 5 years of work experience OR in in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma/GED and minimum 9 years work experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Information Technology.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).

  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in the financial services industry.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to analyze, understand and resolve highly complex technical and non-technical issues and pursue the most relevant course of action

  • Experience in planning and leading collaboration among technical teams to identify and assess complex business and technical needs

  • Experience with negotiating and building consensus across multiple organizations with distributed and heterogeneous teams comprise of individuals with incongruent priorities

  • Understanding of Vulnerability assessment tools as well as manual techniques

  • Knowledge of information security industry and regulatory obligations (PCI DSS, SOX404, SOC1/2, ISO 27000-series, NIST Framework, etc.)

  • Familiarity with tools like Qualys/similar reports, Chef basics Desirable, Patching tools

  • Familiarity on ESX/VCENTER/VSPHERE

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 90,000.00 - 155,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
