TITLE: Senior Manager, U.S. Liquidity Risk
DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Senior Manager, U.S. Liquidity Risk in New York, NY to serve as a key member of the U.S. Liquidity Risk team, playing an important role with enhancing the second line of defense independent review function. Lead annual Liquidity Risk Assessment process to identify key risks and propose limits and/or Key Risk Indicators to monitor and manage the risks and support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the Firm’s Liquidity Risk Assessment (“LRA”.). Develop complex data analysis techniques for use in the measurement of liquidity risk and provide support in building, enhancing and executing the second line of defense roles and responsibilities to ensure U.S. Treasury activities, particularly related to liquidity and interest rate risk management, are in compliance with regulatory guidance and requirements and consistent with the Bank’s internal framework. Enhance liquidity risk governance frameworks, policies and procedures. Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Monitor liquidity risk in both on- and off-balance sheet positions, particularly through liquidity stress test and FR2052a analytics, and challenge the Treasury function’s designs and processes. Coordinate between Risk and Treasury functions, within the U.S. operations and at the group-level, on the initiatives associated with Liquidity Risk and governance. Monitor interest rate risk (IRR) in the banking book and coordinating with Head Office Treasury and Risk functions on IRR activities. Adapt to and work effectively with various individuals or groups in a variety of situations or adapt one's approach to accommodate changes in the situation, organization or own job requirements. Understand and appreciate different and opposing perspectives on an issue. Ensure the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, and the Code of Conduct.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Finance or a related field and six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: leading reviews of key processes including Intraday Risk management, Contingency Funding Planning, Cash Gap analysis, and Early Warning Indicators by engaging with Treasury and/or business teams; utilizing data visualization software and tools to review liquidity stress test data across business and product lines; leveraging data platform tools for analytics and reporting to assess liquidity profile for US business activities; analyzing various idiosyncratic and market scenarios to determine suitable liquidity buffer requirements; utilizing knowledge of regulatory ratios such as the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) and the Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) to assess robustness of regulatory reporting; and interpreting and suggesting appropriate liquidity management by referencing Liquidity Rules and guidance under regulatory regimes including Basel, PRA. Offered or salary is between $133,000 and $224,700 per year. 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
