Google Technical Program Manager, Google Pixel in New Taipei City, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical field or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience in project/program management, including software development and embedded software development.

  • 2 years of experience with program management for projects that span multiple teams in geographically disparate locations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working with release management.

  • Experience commercializing technical product launches.

  • Experience working with engineering, non-engineering teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Android and Kernel drivers.

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.

  • Ability to communicate and influence multiple levels including executive Leadership team and Managers.

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

In this role, you will be responsible for the core software running on Pixel phones. You will work closely with Pixel hardware, Android, and kernel teams to deliver the quality software for Pixel devices.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

  • Drive kernel and operating system upgrades for all in-market devices and deliver high-quality software for all in-market devices that is stable, secure, and meets all performance and power goals.

  • Collaborate closely across many teams such as Android Engineering, Android Release, Testing/Quality Assurance (QA), Product Management, and Customer Support both locally and remotely.

  • Develop a defensible plan for the release, keep the team involved, and manage any changes to the plan appropriately.

  • Drive communication of progress/status within the core team, externally (e.g., customers, partners), and escalate issues as necessary.

  • Drive process and tooling improvements to help run the software releases and servicing across our increasing portfolio of phones and tablets.
