Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Unit Computing Specialist for the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP).Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Supports PC and Macintosh computers, operating systems and software at multiple locations.
  • Maintains device and equipment inventory, assists end users with any issues with their university owned equipment.
  • Sets up new PC and Macintosh computers and troubleshoots hardware and software.
  • Educates users in proper usage of university equipment assigned or borrowed.
  • Handles all requests for assistance and problem resolution.
  • Reports any escalations, outages, or issues to the supervisor.
  • Sets up audio and visual equipment for presentations and GSAPP event recordings, and is responsible to retrieve the equipment afterwards.
  • Processes and manages IT orders in RU Marketplace which includes but not limited to processing requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Keeps abreast of relevant developments in computing, both globally and within the University to be able to apprise the staff of actions, software, hardware and changes that might affect them.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a related field or at least two years of relevant experience in a broad ranging computer support position.
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Windows and Macintosh operating systems, networked printer/copiers, and web browsers, web development programs, TCP/IP technologies and numerous utilities.
  • Ability to setup and maintain wireless networks.
  • Ability to work independently, use personal transportation for work functions and work with confidential and sensitive material.
  • Ability to communicate with faculty, staff and students in a broad range of positions.
