The Office of Student Conduct is responsible for overseeing and managing the student discipline of both on and off campus students. The Office of Student Conduct addresses student discipline and behavioral concerns, while balancing being educational and further developing residential communities.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Coordinator of Resident Support Services for Rutgers Residence Life. The Coordinator of Student Conduct reports to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct.Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Provides support responding to all violations of residence hall and university policy.
  • Conducts independent and unbiased investigations, and adjudicates all violations that take place within the residence halls and in the off-campus community, up to and including cases that result in suspension or expulsion. Violations include but are not limited to alcohol and drug offenses, arrests, assaults, vandalism, disorderly conduct, theft, failure to comply with university officials, and retaliation.
  • Hears cases involving violations of university policy, violations of the law, whether the incident occurs on or off-campus, and serves as an investigator for Title IX violations, student organization misconduct cases, and academic integrity violations during their peak times.
  • Meets regularly with the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Services (OSC-CRS)and the Residence Life campus staff.
  • Attends staff meetings, speaks at departmental meetings, and presents various trainings and workshops.
  • Advises the Associate Directors for Residential Communities, Residence Life Coordinators, and Assistant Residence Life Coordinators in their conduct responsibilities and ensures staff addresses student behavior issues appropriately.
  • Analyzes trends in student behavior and student discipline using Maxient.
  • Works closely with The Office of Student Conduct, Counseling, Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP), Acute Psychological Services (APS), Health Outreach and Prevention Education (HOPE), and the Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD), dually reporting to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Services.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in residence life or a closely related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with responsibility for student discipline, emergency response, and crisis management.
  • Working knowledge of Title IX, the Clery Act, and FERPA.
  • Ability to work with a highly diverse population.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong commitment to student development and customer service.
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and also in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in student affairs administration, higher education, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with Maxient (judicial database) is preferred.
  • Three years of professional experience is preferred.
