Job Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership - Oversee and manage all areas of the grocery store operations. Developstrategies to boost sales, improve customer service and minimize costs. Manage budgets and schedules to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness.Manage all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll related administrative duties. Track key performance indicators and generate reports to measure store performance and identify areas for improvement. Manage shifts which includes daily decision making, scheduling, and planning while upholding standards, product quality and supply and cleanliness throughout the store.Perform a daily walk through before each shift to monitor inventory. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors. Research new vendors. Place orders with suppliers, manage deliveries and implement measures to minimize shrinkage and maintain product freshness. Address customer complaints and problems effectively and courteously taking appropriate action to turn dissatisfied customers into returning customers. Ensure high standards of service throughout the store.

  • Personnel Management / Employee Development - Interact and provide direction to employees on a daily basis in a fair and dignified manner. Interview, hire, supervise, and develop employees. Monitoremployee job performance and personal presentation to maintain a professional image and discuss any concerns with associate.Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that the grocery store is staffed for all shifts. Work with management and Human Resources (HR) on developing and implementing policies and work standards. Conduct weekly operational meetings with management staff and quarterly meetings with all staff members. Lead by example, enforce policies and work standards, and hold team accountable for steps of service. Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Responsible for coaching, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.

  • Quality and Health / Safety Regulations - Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances. Enforce food quality and presentation throughout the entire store. Follow all health and safety regulations and uphold all SERV Safe guidelines.

  • Marketing and Advertising - Create and maintain attractive product displays. Direct and oversee the grocery stores website. Work with marketing on website and advertisement issues. Oversee social media campaigns and promotions.

  • Miscellaneous - Report all repairs to appropriate personnel. Look for ways to improve processes and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years' related experience in retail or grocery industry

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be 21 years of age

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in retail management.

  • A combination of practical experience and education.

  • Good computer skills and knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Proficient in functions such purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, record keeping, and preparation of reports.

  • Detail oriented, patient, and conscientious.

  • The incumbent must be able to follow established procedures and processes and make decisions cautiously in alignment with the standards of the store, communicate in a factual, polite, and professional manner, and is available and able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
