Quality Assurance Specialist

The Quality Specialist supports the Quality Management System by ensuring compliance with regulations, recognized standards, and company processes. This position’s primary focus is post-market surveillance data analysis, including customer feedback, complaints, and adverse events. They also initiate and drive improvements and support other key processes such as corrective and preventive actions, audits, and change management.
INVESTIGATES CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS BY:
Using various methods of obtaining information on a complaint, including but not limited to reviewing complaints documented by Customer Experience, researching customer history, reviewing manufacturing information, interviewing customers, and reviewing evaluation results on returned product.
ENSURES REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS ARE MET BY:
Understanding regulatory requirements related to complaints and adverse events in markets where the products are sold, including timeframes for investigations and reporting; drafting and maintaining procedures related to complaint handling, investigations, and reporting; reviewing complaint investigations and presenting recommendations on reporting requirements to the Global Complaint Committee or management; working with R&D to update product risk management files; and writing and submitting reports to regulatory authorities within the required timeframe.
IMPROVES Product Performance BY:
Analyzing post-market data collected using spreadsheets, graphs, basic statistics, or other analysis techniques; reporting on results in a meaningful way including graphs, images, and summaries as appropriate; communicating results to Quality Assurance/Regulatory Compliance (QA/RC) Department Management, Quality Engineers, and other groups via email and narratives, reports, and virtual and in-person presentations; creating reports to support risk management and clinical evaluations; and proposing improvement actions, including corrective and preventive actions based on the data analysis.
PROMOTES accurate RECORDS by:
Reviewing/auditing complaint records for completeness; working with Customer Experience to correct errors; communicating best practices for documentation practices and record keeping, proposing system, process, and form improvements.
SUPPORTS THE BUSINESS BY:
Reporting to the site Quality Management Representative; accomplishing miscellaneous duties as needed to maintain the safest working environment, maintain the aspects of confidentiality, and maintain or enhance the performance of this position, the QA/RC department, and the company; performing special assignments such as auditing, data analysis, and documentation.
Maintains safe and clean work environment by:
Operating all machinery in a safe and efficient manner; reporting any safety hazards to assigned supervisor or safety manager; complying with all safety and quality policies, practices, and procedures.
MAINTAINS QUALITY SERVICE BY:
Keeping error rates minimal and within acceptable ranges.
Contributes to team effort by:
Performing additional tasks or duties as requested by site Quality Management Representative; performing specific tasks to support new product launches/product changes and CAPA; maintaining a good attendance record; accomplishing related results as needed.
Maintains PROFESSIONAL AND technical knowledge by:
Attending educational workshops, seminars, and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
Requirements:
Mandatory: Sufficient experience with successfully and independently performing project tasks requiring data gathering, curation, analysis, and presentation to be able to perform tasks independently with minimal guidance. Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative work environment and to lead and continually improve processes.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree from college or university with a minimum of two years related experience, or an Associate’s Degree from college or trade school with a minimum of five years related experience.
