Responsibilities The Staff Accountant acts as a key business partner within the organization by providing oversight in financial accounting, with a primary focus on journal entry preparation and account analysis. This individual will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting across various operational activities to support informed decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to organizational success by leveraging theoretical knowledge, analytical skills and attention to detail acquired during academic studies and prior experience. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for preparing various calculations/analyses and corresponding journal entries. Management of general corporate accounting matters including cash activity, payroll, accrued liabilities and transportation. Manage timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts through development and maintenance of detailed general ledger subsidiary schedules Prepare monthly entries and reconciliations for significant account balances such as advertising and other complex accounting processes Manage monthly intercompany transactions, including managing reconciliations with sister companies Track and record company cash and T&E transactions and related accounts Collaborate with corporate departments to maintain and manage advertising and coupon spend Perform monthly and quarterly variance analysis procedures Assist with system data conversion/migration on an ad hoc basis Assist in organizational compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, including maintaining adequate control documentation Interface with internal and external auditors including preparing schedules, providing explanations, and preparing any other data as required. Field and resolve inquiries from management on an ad hoc basis Involvement in the optimization of various accounting procedures Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting; CPA (or working towards) preferred 1 to 3 years relevant experience gained through public accounting or related industry experience General ledger accounting background with a broad knowledge of consolidations and monthly closings Experience using SAP and Oracle ERP systems preferred Experience with OneStream/HFM or similar consolidation software a plus Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible and positive Good problem solving and decision-making skills
