Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

The Indirects Field Engineer will support the implementation of the temporary facilities, utilities, and services plan to ensure the project needs are met. The ideal candidate will have good communication and problem- solving skills, be a self-starter, highly motivated and able to work well in a dynamic team environment. #LI-SM2

Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and implement temporary facilities, utilities, and services plan to ensure project needs are met.

  • Review project schedule and sequence to plan for project indirect needs. Participate in the development of contingency planning.

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to standard work process procedures (SWPPs) relating to Indirect work activities.

  • Work closely with area and discipline superintendents to coordinate efforts and activities to meet the overall project requirements and goals.

  • Assist in the preparation of work hour estimates for the project.

  • Coordinate Indirect needs to support Direct work, including but not limited to, laydown allocation and planning, construction road and MEPI (walkway) logistics coordination.

  • Monitor the preparation and issuance of material requisitions to support Indirects needs.

  • Coordinate between construction and procurement to identify, requisition and establish delivery dates for indirect material requirements.

  • Monitor procurement reports and activities to ensure indirect milestone schedule dates are met.

  • Compile and coordinate AHJ permit submittals and inspections for temporary facilities.

  • Ensure required permits are in place prior to the start of the work.

  • Monitor the activities of designated subcontractors or vendors to ensure compliance with specifications, Bechtel Procedures, schedule and permitting.

  • Conduct field inspections which require the physical ability perform the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, and working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. body harness, life vest, etc.)

  • Implement and follow the project ES&H program.

  • Provide leadership and champion the “Zero Accidents” philosophy.

  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping throughout the work area.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (preferred) or equivalent engineering discipline or 2-5 years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and problem-solving ability.

  • Strong organization and planning skills. Planning, scheduling, and forecasting knowledge preferred)

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications (Microsoft Suites)

  • Must be able to demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills to maintain a positive work environment between all parties including the client, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project life cycle.
