The Position

Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.

The Department of Taxation is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic IT Professional to lead the Taxation IT Helpdesk team in Carson City Nevada. This position leads a team of Customer Support / Helpdesk personnel and will be responsible for time management, mentoring, training, evaluation, and hiring of new personnel. This position is also responsible for maintaining computer and peripheral equipment, imaging computers, Microsoft Active Directory account management, Microsoft endpoint device management, monitoring systems, and basic networking. The Incumbent manages the development of projects that pertain to the Help Desk, monitors, and notifies on department application availability. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Special Requirements

Some positions are subject to call-out or call-back. Some positions require statewide travel.

Additional Position Criteria

This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. This position requires a State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint-based background check as a condition of appointment and as condition of continuing employment.
