Air Combat Command HVAC MECHANIC LEADER in Nellis AFB, Nevada

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the element's Refrigerant and Preventive Maintenance Manager and perform work and lead employees assigned to the 99 CES/CEOIH Element in accomplishing trades and labor work of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration and Control Systems. Responsibilities Performs refrigerant manager duties Serves as work leader primarily to military HVAC technicians but may be required at times to lead and direct civilian HVAC technicians as well Troubleshoots HVAC/R systems with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions Plans maintenance and repairs to a variety of complex heating boilers and/or heating systems, single and multiple fuel power boilers, and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment Leads maintenance and repair of large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning (AC), and cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repairs Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a HVAC MECHANIC LEADER without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of HVAC and Control Systems to include the principles and theories of all Refrigeration Cycles, Machine Technologies, Psychrometrics, Air Balancing, Hydronic Balancing, The Laws of Thermodynamics, Mechanical, Electrical and Combustion Theory, properties of several refrigerants and Industrial Water Treatment. Knowledge of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment Knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC), Pneumatic, Electronic and electro/mechanical control system's programming/calibrating, architecture, sensory inputs, controllers and controlled devices Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test instruments common to HVAC and Control Systems Knowledge of security and safety practices and procedures. Knowledge and skill in installing, maintaining, dismantling, repairing, and reassembling HVAC/R systems and associated systems and equipment sufficient to isolate and resolve problems affecting efficiency. Ability to read and to interpret complex electrical and control schematics, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications, mechanical drawings, operating manuals, or special facility procedures to be followed during emergencies, equipment failures, or system malfunctions Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission sufficient to evaluate work methods and improve them by developing improvements or alternative processes. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
