JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Router/School Bus Dispatcher performs a variety of duties, including typing, filing, answering phones, receiving and communicating information and performing other technical and administrative functions in an active office setting. The primary goal of the router/dispatcher is to receive information from a variety of sources, and to provide that information to drivers in a timely and efficient manner. Dispatch and route all school bus and transit routes making driver substitutions using routing software to assure that accurate and drivers are fully instructed on routes, to include maps and all necessary route information. Keep a good relationship with the shop staff and the status of vehicles. Assist the sales staff in the proactive booking of all school bus charters. Treat all drivers fairly. Know that the driver and the bus is the image the customer has of Kobussen Buses Ltd. Learn and utilize the school bus routing computer software system. Work closely with the Safety Director to ensure safe busing routes for pick up and drop off of students. Acquire and maintain a good relationship with the public and the schools. Remain polite on the phone and ask for assistance in difficult matters. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Enjoy working with the public and providing information. Proficient in computer programs and become expert user of routing programs. Clean driving record and the ability to obtain CDL.
