ABOUT THE ROLE

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Sr. HSE Engineer in our manufacturing plant, a part of the Smart Energy & Thermal Solutions business unit. In this exciting opportunity, you will utilize your experience in HSE to significantly impact and support the business. You will provide HSE guidance, technical support, and communication of HSE requirements by establishing strong working relationships with site supervision and employees.

This is a fully onsite position located at 2221 Industrial Road, Nebraska City, NE 68410. Relocation support may be provided.

Key HSE Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate workplace hazards and recommend control measures to reduce risks.

  • Continuously improve the health, safety and environmental culture by influencing, coaching, and engaging with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Deploy HSE management systems, maintain regulatory compliance, implement HSE procedures, and assist with improving the site’s HSE culture.

  • Educate employees and managers at all levels on HSE procedures and requirements (both Honeywell and regulatory) while considering the company’s diversity and multicultural nature.

  • Monitor, document, and report HSE metrics, corrective actions, incidents, regulatory inspections, injury/illness reduction, and audit results.

  • Support Management of Change (MOC), conduct HSE reviews of capital projects, and participate in hazard assessments.

  • Provide technical support to the Leadership Team and plant personnel in day-to-day operations.

  • Conduct HSE assessments (Maturity Planning) per Corporate and division requirements.

  • Develop training programs and deliver presentations to site personnel and managers.

  • Lead or participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis for environmental, safety, or other incidents, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and corrective actions.

  • Ensure compliance with local, Business Group, and Corporate HSE regulations and requirements.

  • Act as a liaison between the site and the global organization by attending periodic global meetings, providing reports, and presenting the site at global HSE meetings.

  • Participate in HSE aspects associated with site continuous improvement activities.

  • Support on-site wastewater treatment plant operations.

  • Able to overlap with the 2nd shift schedule. E.g. work 9-10 am to 6-7 pm.

MUST HAVE:

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a full time HSE role in an industrial setting.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

WE VALUE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related fields.

  • Lean/Six Sigma Greenbelt certified or willing to become certified in first 12 months.

  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods, First Aid practices, environmental and industrial hygiene practices.

  • Experience participating in audits and implementing HSE management systems.

  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations

  • Significant knowledge of Environmental regulations (EPA, DEQ, NDEQ, etc.)

  • NDEE Industrial Wastewater Level 2 certification or willing to take the exam and get certified

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or other comparable HSE certification.

  • Effective communications and influence all levels of employees and leadership.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from site Leadership, HSE peers, regulatory agencies, clients, customers and employees.

  • Effectively demonstrates ability to deliver on complex situations or problems without guidance or supervision, in a timely manner.

  • Ability to critically evaluate results, make recommendations and reports.

  • Use effective coaching techniques to develop a culture of employee engagement.

  • Drives a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology.

  • Leads a visually managed work environment.

  • Be bilingual (English and Spanish)
