Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY

Provides leadership for the creation, coordination, execution and growth of complex programs independently. Provides leadership to support programs that are expected to experience significant change, expansion or evolution over time.

  • Works alongside the Vice President of Government and Community Affairs in advising senior leadership of VUMC on matters related to city, county, and state government relations.

  • Assists in maintaining effective communications with local officials, community groups, and state organizations focused on research and healthcare.

  • Responsible for executing political engagement strategies regarding state officials to benefit the mission and objectives of VUMC including social media and marketing strategy to reach various audiences. Heavy focus on relationship building in the counties outside of Davidson where Vanderbilt Health has a presence and acting as a community affairs liaison to the main campus for the subsidiary clinics and hospitals.

  • Writes quarterly newsletter from the Office of State Government and Community Affairs.

  • Maintains the VUMC Office of State Government and Community Affairs social media accounts.

  • Represents VUMC at community events in Rutherford, Williamson, Maury, Montgomery, Bedford and Coffee Counties.

  • Assists the Director of State Government and Community Affairs in compiling information for the VUMC County by County Community Relations Information publication.

  • Maintains event sponsorship information for assigned counties.

  • Responsible for placing VUMC speakers in community group settings.

  • Represents VUMC at the Annual Rural Health Association of Tennessee.

  • Coordinates with Marketing on opportunities to engage elected officials.

• Develops program plans, goals and objectives in collaboration with program and area leadership.

• Provides professional and/or technical leadership in the execution of day-to-day program activities.

• Communicates within and across department to maximize information sharing around progress, needs, inter-dependencies and accomplishments.

• Participates in institutional task forces and other special committees related to the achievement of goals and objective.
