Lead Pharmacy Technician
Position Summary
Vision: The priority of this role is to maintain up-to-date documentation on narcotic movement (i.e. purchases, distribution to Pyxis / kits, dispenses, administration, and waste) within the facility and in our community settings. Identifying potential drug reconciliation of controlled substances when discrepancies occur within to facilities. This colleague will work directly with the Pharmacy Operations Manager as well as the Director of Pharmacy to ensure documentation is complete and any diversion is brought to the attention of the leaders immediately. Other duties include the following:
Review and resolution of CII Safe variances – daily
Validation of receipts for controlled substances received and sold (Inpatient and Retail) – daily/weekly
Reconciliation of controlled substance overrides in Pyxis – daily
Support inpatient CII Safe competency validation of internal staff – PRN
Diversion identification and validation across MHM (Inpatient and Retail) - PRN
Electronic and paper DEA 222 reconciliation (inpatient and retail)
Inventory CII safe (bi-annually for total inventory, monthly "slow movers")
Support bi-annual inventory count documentation
Development of a diversion dashboard reflecting current operational compliance in key areas
Other duties may be assigned as seen fit by management. This role will report directly to the Pharmacy Operations Manager and will meet regularly with the Director as well. This position is a support role for both pharmacy and nursing to ensure controlled substances are being handled appropriately.
Education
Minimum High School Diploma
Preferred Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program; or two years of college with emphasis in math, science, or medical field applications.
Credentials/Licensure
Minimum Certified and licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in the State of Michigan.
Related Experience
Minimum 5 years of pharmacy work experience with at least two years as a Pharmacy Technician III at Trinity Health.
Hours of work: Variable shift, 40 hours per week (hours ranging from 0600-1430, 1400-2230).
