Murray State University Maintenance Technician I, Plumbing in Murray, Kentucky
Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain, repair and make improvements to facilities as instructed.
Maintaining facilities in good state of repair, quality of work performed, proper care and maintenance of assigned tools and supplies.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
Two years combined experience including custodial techniques, outdoor maintenance techniques, general maintenance.
Vocational training may be exchanged at a rate of one-half time per year.
Specific experience and skills required for working in the following areas: plumbing work and general mechanical maintenance.
Ability to follow written and verbal communication, work independently, good communication skills, ability to plan and make decisions.
Thorough knowledge of safe working procedures.
Carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC /Mechanical, or electrical.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements to operate a University vehicle.
Hourly Rate: $14.18 (Additional pay dependent upon qualifications)
Work Hours:
Eight hours per day, five days per week; occasional overtime.
Emergency callback after hours and on weekends.
Central Plant: Involves night and weekend work and may require overtime when needed. Will be required to work holidays when needed.
This position will be required to work to provided critical services during University holidays, closures, and other emergencies, as needed. Critical services refer to the units that ensure the continuation of key operations and services that directly relate to the security, safety, and/or physical operation of the University (including services to students). Critical services employees will be required to report to work unless their supervises advise otherwise.
