Role Summary:
The Director of Finance will oversee all financial matters relating to the Compass at Google Food Program in the Bay Area. You will work closely with your Compass colleagues, as well as wider Compass and client stakeholders to support their different needs. You will manage and evolve core processes to ensure accurate and efficient invoicing and reporting. It is important that you understand the day to day business and work closely with the operations teams.
The Director of Finance will report to the SVP of Operations, Compass at Google and will be a member of the Bay Area leadership team. You will have the opportunity to inspire, lead and develop a small team who will manage the financial aspects of the business, including invoicing, payroll, forecasting, data analysis and contract governance.
You will need strong financial, analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to identify key business trends and issues. You will also need to build professional relationships at various levels of the organization and lead senior-level discussions. In addition, you must be a self-starter who is able to work methodically and independently, lead a team and complete initiatives to tight deadlines within a fast-paced working environment.
Location: Office Centric Hybrid in Sunnyvale California
The great things you’ll do
Finance / Governance - responsible for all financial aspects for the region (reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and governance / contract compliance)
Performance - partner with key operational stakeholders to drive insights and data driven decisions. Evaluate, define, monitor and advise on metrics and KPIs to measure business performance
Data - lead, contribute and collaborate towards a regional approach to data (financial and non-financial); build and lead a team managing dashboards, visualizations and reports to effectively communicate findings
Stakeholder Management / Communication - effectively communicate with key stakeholders, including building presentations and distilling analysis to the key points to drive decisions and outcomes; influencing as needed
Planning - modeling, data validation and analysis to achieve accurate forecasts supported by a data-based narrative
Process Improvement - identify opportunities / sources for simplification, automation and workflow improvements
Projects - work across sector and country teams on highly visible and impactful projects
What we look for in the perfect candidate
10+ years of relevant experience
Bachelor’s degree in a Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
MBA / CPA / CFA designation preferred
Ability to motivate and work collaboratively with business partners, key team members, senior management and client groups on various projects and initiatives
Ability to handle and manage multiple projects and work streams
Ability to set and communicate timelines, roles and responsibilities to multiple stakeholders and hold them accountable for deliverables
Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written and presentation skills)
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Hands on, detail-oriented with ability to see the big picture
Remains balanced in a fast-paced and changing environment, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and information effectively
Thrives in ambiguous environments and is results driven
Ability to partner with cross-functional finance and operations teams
Excellent skills in G-Suite & Microsoft applications
Familiar with common analysis tools will be a plus, such as Python and SQL
