Job Summary:

Caterpillar Procurement Classification (CPC) owner. CPC is foundational to the success of PROcure and directly enables PROcure buyer assignment, supplier assignment, and spend analytics. The incumbent should have a thorough understanding of part releasing, specifications, and how a part is manufactured. What you will do:

  • Ensure all items in PROcure are assigned a CPC

  • Establish governance processes to ensure CPC quality and sustainability. Monitor process health using KPIs

  • Manage a grief process to ensure timely data corrections

  • Partner with Parts Discovery Tool (PDT) team to ensure all items are classified at release and maintain a product hierarchy that facilitates accurate product differentiation

  • Understand manufacturing processes and 1E Specs to ensure CPC process attributes are accurately assigned

• Evaluates the opportunities and the challenges of integrating data into decisions.

• Oversees data gathering and analysis activities within the organization.

• Seeks input from multiple sources to generate diverse ideas for Decision Making.

Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational

problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

• Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions.

• Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns.

Supplier Management - MFG : Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with

suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.

• Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.

• Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.

• Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.

• Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.

Education and Experience requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree; in lieu of degree – 7+ years in procurement or relevant engineering/digital experience

  • Working knowledge of procurement processes and supplier capabilities

Additional Information:

The primary location for this position is Mossville, IL

Domestic relocation assistance is not available

This position may require 15% travel
