job summary:
A Metallurgical Engineer is needed for a world leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives in the Mossville, IL area. This role involves researching mechanical products, systems, and processes, utilizing skills in engineering design, blueprint interpretation, and metallurgical analysis to contribute to failure analysis reports and collaborate with cross-functional teams in both office and laboratory settings.

responsibilities:
Research and investigate the design, functionality, and maintenance of mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes.
Ability to make engineering drawings, sketches, and perform common computations.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
Interact with Metallurgical Laboratory and clients to perform failure analysis reports influencing product engineering decisions.
Exposure to laboratory practices, various components, systems, and cross-functional teams.
Test components according to company material and processing requirements.
Learn and failure analysis and ferrous metallurgy.
Photograph as-received parts, document identifying markings, develop and execute test plans, and create comprehensive lab reports with conclusions.
Work primarily in an office environment, with some time spent in the shop and laboratory.
