rrPosition Summary:

rThe Patient & Billing Representative provides support services for Vandal Health Clinic. Duties include rescheduling patient appointments, triaging client telephone calls for clinicians, processing new patient paperwork and confidential information, coding all patient visits. This position is responsible for maintaining patient records, reviewing and allocating the appropriate payments per payor contract and make necessary adjustments to patient accounts, follow-up on outstanding insurance claims, submit appeals, verifying and notifying patients of any outstanding deductible and co-insurance amounts prior to upcoming office visits, and providing general information about Vandal Health Clinic to patients, faculty, staff, students, and the public about services and certain policies and procedures. The Patient & Billing Representative will report directly to the Revenue Manager.

rrMinimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

{=html} <!-- --> - One year of medical insurance/healthcare billing and collections - Experience with medical terminology - Experience using Electronic Health/Medical Records software - Using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches and data organization

rrPreferred Qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelors degree, Bachelors preferred
• Experience working with HIPAA of 1996 and FERPA, pertaining to the release of protected health information
• Medical coding certification
