Atlantic Health System Unit Associate III, FT Evenings, ED MMC in Morristown, New Jersey

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Maintains integrity medical records

  • Answers telephone courteously stating location, name & title.

  • Facilitates communication of all calls to the appropriate team member.

  • Conveys potential problems with charge nurse/point person.

  • Acts as a receptionist: greeting new admissions, visitors, physicians and all members of the health care team.

  • Picks up mail form the mail-room, sorts and distributes mail.

  • Answers call bell politely, promptly, speaks clearly and utilizes a normal

    tone of voice and notifies staff of patient’s requests.

  • Performs all admission, transfer and discharge functions

  • Assigns beds collaborating with charge nurse/point person in accordance with Medical Staff rules & regulations, and Administrative

    guidelines.

  • Completes all clerical duties for discharges, transfers, admissions, and expirations.

  • Facilitates all patient expiration processes: expiration documentation, completion of fatal case report, notification of coroner, Sharing Network, clinical operation office, information desk, physician & family as appropriate.

  • Maintains patient boards and logs up-to-date.

  • Transcribes physician orders in a timely and accurate manner and places in designated area for RN to check and sign off orders.

  • Enters charges in MIS.

  • Performs computer downtime procedure including completion of required forms.

  • Maintains a safe work environment

  • Adheres to Standard Precautions and infection control policies.

  • Maintains an orderly and clean safe environment.

  • Follows fire and safety regulations reports environmental and safety hazards appropriately.

Required:

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent.

  2. Six months of health care work experience, preferred.

  3. Must have at least 6 months steady work history.

Preferred:

  1. Knowledge of and familiarity with hospital equipment, supplies and procedures.

  2. Ability to identify clinical and environmental emergency/urgent situations and to follow established procedures.

  3. Highly effective interpersonal communication skills to interace with inter-professional staff, patients, families, visitors, and other hospital employees.
