Bargaining Unit Representation The Teamsters Bargaining Unit represents this position. Dues or fair share deductions will be made. This position is located on the UMN Morris Campus in Morris, MN. Job Duties A. Repairs and Routine Maintenance Percent Time 60% Repairs and services campus equipment, forklift, lawn mowers, skid steers, snow blowers, lifts Maintains fleet vehicles; fuels vehicles, check oil and fluids, clean interior, and wash exterior Inspects, repairs and adjusts automotive systems such as: fuel injection, electrical, exhaust, carburetor, hydraulic, and lubrication systems Replace, repair and adjust components to include: ignitions, brakes, brake pads, shoes, drums, rotors, hoses, lights, tires, tailgates, lifts, etc. Diagnose malfunctions in various computer-monitored automotive systems and components such as ignition, carburetion, fuel injection, automatic transmissions, hydraulic systems, and anti-lock brakes using electronic analysis and diagnostic equipment and specialized tools Keep track of oil changes and other regular maintenance necessary for campus vehicles and complete tasks when needed Repair any slight damages to fleet vehicles and make arrangements for repairs to be out sourced Keep all vehicles serviced and ready for rental Address all warranty or recall claims Service generators in buildings around campus, periodic testing to ensure proper operation Welding and fabrication for repairs on campus equipment and infrastructure as needed Perform all vehicle safety inspection for tabs and insurance B. Grounds Percent Time 35% Mowing, weeding, trimming, applying chemicals (fertilizing and spraying), removing trash and debris, etc. Snow removal; shoveling, salting, sanding, operating snow removal equipment Operate snow removal equipment: plow truck, skid steers, brooms, blowers, etc. Care for trees (including pruning and removal), shrubs, plants, and turf management Operate 60 foot aerial lift C. Load/Unload Freight, Operate Equipment and Miscellaneous Tasks as Assigned Percent time 5% Haul products for Biomass Plant Pick up, load, haul and unload maintenance supplies and freight Perform a variety of maintenance work including, but not limited to: painting, mechanical repair, cleaning, set ups, etc. Qualifications Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities High school graduate or equivalent and two years of vocational education in automotive mechanics and one year experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and general equipment. Physical and/or environmental requirements This position may require the ability to stand for the majority of the day, walk, bend, climb, crouch, knell, stoop, see close/far, carry, lift, push and pull equipment, tools, parts etc. of 50 pounds or more, operate a computer or other office equipment.
