Description The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking qualified applicants for a Teaching Assistant Professor (TAP) position in the area of cybersecurity beginning January 2025. The appointment will be in the Department of Management Information Systems and Supply Chain. West Virginia University is the comprehensive Land Grant University of the State of West Virginia with a Carnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity (i.e., R1 University). WVU is designated by the NSA and DHS as a National Center of Academic Excellence in both Cyber Defense Research and Cyber Defense Education. WVU is also one of two academic partners of the National Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure and is also a member of the USCYBERCOM Academic Engagement Network (AEN). Morgantown is a safe, inclusive and family-friendly community with a regional population of about 137,000 residents and is ranked among the most livable small cities in the country. It lies within a high technology corridor that includes several federal research facilities, such as the NASA Katherine Johnson Independent Verification and Validation Facility (IV&V), U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Qualifications Minimum qualifications are possession of a Master's degree before the start date of the position in one of the following areas: cybersecurity, information technology, data assurance, information technology management, management information systems, information sciences, computer science, business administration, data analytics, AI/ML, GIS, or a related field. Candidates must have knowledge, skill and interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in the topics of cybersecurity, systems administration, networking, data analytics, or similar topics, and must be willing to establish and maintain relationships with university partner organizations, in support of our outreach activities. Industry certifications in cybersecurity topics are preferred. Candidates are expected to: Teach graduate and undergraduate classes in topics related to the areas of Cybersecurity, Systems Administration, Network and Data Communications, Information Security Management, Penetration Testing, Computer Forensics, and Application Security, at a minimum. Serve as the education and training lead for the Cyber-Resilience Resource Center (CRRC), which includes supporting the operations of the center through directly supervising undergraduate and graduate student experiential learning industry outreach projects, development of education and training material aligned with the center's mission, promotion of the center's outreach efforts, and developing collaborative relationships with private and public sector partners. Develop and hold training courses to assist students with passing industry IT and cybersecurity-focused certification exams.
