This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your role

As Project Manager, Business and Rights, you work with independent producers to negotiate the parameters for Radio-Canada’s involvement in original productions for broadcast or streaming on the group’s channels/platforms, from initial development through to production.

You are responsible for negotiating financial parameters, broadcast rights and business terms for projects assigned to you.

More specifically:

  • You ensure that production resources are commensurate with the project’s artistic ambitions in light of budget targets and resolve any potential roadblocks.

  • You consult with all Corporation departments involved, including the programming and business areas, and identify their needs and potential issues to be addressed in negotiations.

  • You recommend appropriate funding strategies.

  • You are responsible for contract negotiations.

  • You track the Corporation’s commitments.

  • You perform administrative follow-up on matters, including ensuring that information pertaining to acquired rights and licensing restrictions is accurately reflected in rights management systems, and approve payments associated with project milestones.

  • You are assisted by an administrative support team.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, law or other relevant field

  • At least three to five years’ relevant experience in audiovisual production, audiovisual funding or working with a broadcaster

  • Ability to understand and analyze production budgets and specifications (in kids’ and/or documentary content an asset)

  • Thorough familiarity with the rules and mechanisms of the main Canadian funding agencies (CMF, SODEC, Quebecor Fund, Bell Fund, tax credits, etc.)

  • Good knowledge of the French-language Canadian broadcasting environment and content deals

  • Good knowledge of collective agreements (AQTIS, ARRQ, SARTEC, UDA)

  • Strong ability to synthesize information and negotiate effectively

  • Strong ability to manage conflicts and adopt the frame of mind needed to find solutions

  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships internally and externally

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritize and work well under pressure

  • Bilingualism an asset
