This position will focus on an exciting area of work that investigates neurobiological mechanisms supporting developmental plasticity during adolescence. We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar with experience in the following areas: Experience with advanced neuroimaging approaches in developmental samples (e.g. functional MRS, quantitative MRI). Interest or experience in ultra-high field 7T imaging Neurobiological constructs related to critical period plasticity such as the excitation/inhibition ratio, myelination, timeseries properties (e.g. Hurst exponent, aperiodic slope, timescale correlation). Sex differences, pubertal development, and brain iron development. Responsibilities: In this position, the postdoctoral fellow will: Conduct research using state-of-the-art 7T MRI as well as existing large-scale neuroimaging datasets. Analyze and interpret multimodal neuroimaging cognitive data to uncover the relationships between brain plasticity mechanisms and neurocognitive function during development. Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers, including the PI, graduate students, and other postdoctoral fellows. Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences. Gain experience writing and submitting grants for institutions such as the National Institutes as Health. Have the freedom to pursue your own research interests within the broader theme of the position Qualifications Required Qualifications: PhD in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, or a related field. Strong experience in neuroimaging data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with developmental biostatistical modeling (e.g. generalized additive models, multilevel models, SEM). Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills. Passion for developmental neuroscience and the potential of multimodal neuroimaging to advance our understanding of brain development. Enthusiasm for exploring new research directions in collaboration with the PI. About the Department The postdoctoral scholar will work within the newly formed Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (https://midb.umn.edu/) and will have the opportunity to work with a host of talented individuals (including Drs. Damien Fair, Steve Nelson, Eric Feczko, Oscar Miranda-Dominguez, and Brenden Tervo-Clemmens). The scholar will be able to draw on world-class neuroimaging facilities and training at the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR), including ultra- high resolution 7T imaging.
