Miller Milling Accounts Payable Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Summary : The Accounts Payable Manager is a pivotal role responsible for leading the accounts payable (AP) process and strategically managing the inbound grain procurement administration. This position ensures the financial integrity of the company through meticulous General Ledger reconciliations and spearheads initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.

Primary Duties :

Accounts Payable:

  • Daily Operations Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the AP function, including invoice processing, payment disbursements, and vendor statement reconciliations.

  • Process Streamlining : Utilize tools like Microsoft D365 and Exflow to streamline the AP process, enhancing efficiency through the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.

  • Policy Implementation: Develop and maintain AP policies and procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations and company standards.

  • Month-End Closing: Oversee month-end closing processes for AP, including accruals and AP aging analysis.

  • Team Management: Provide feedback and coaching to AP staff, fostering a high-performing team environment.

    Grain Procurement:

  • Workflow Coordination: Oversee all grain accounting activities and coordinate workflow to ensure timely and efficient process completion.

  • Procurement Administration: Manage the inbound grain procurement administration, including contract management, grain shipments, and payments.

  • Liaison Role: Act as a liaison with the grain trading desk and various corporate functions to ensure alignment and efficiency.

  • Reconciliations: Perform accounting reconciliations for prepaid grain balances and payables accounts.

  • Reporting and Audits: Handle ad hoc reporting requests, including sustainability initiatives and support for internal and external audits.

  • Team Guidance: Offer guidance and coaching to grain procurement assistants, enhancing their skills and contributions to the team.

    Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform other responsibilities as requested.

    Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field

  • Experience in agriculture or manufacturing preferred

  • 5 years of supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills

  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including D365

  • Strong Attention to detail and organizational ability

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
