The role of the Senior Project Manager, Integrated Building Systems is to provide technical leadership in the coordination, integration, and deployment of AI related systems to include Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Building Automation System (BAS) and liquid cooling systems for new and highly important datacenter projects

The Senior Project Manager, Integrated Building Systems is also responsible for successfully delivering the project safely, on schedule, on or under budget with a high-level of quality. They are responsible for ensuring the project meets Microsoft guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and lessons learned drawn from previous projects and latest designs.

The role is also responsible for coordinating the EPMS/BAS integration within our teams EPMS/BAS software and commissioning groups, the AE, equipment vendors, general contractors, and commissioning agents. Additionally, this role is accountable for ensuring the design EPMS/BAS meets project specifications and standards.

The Senior Project Manager, Integrated Building Systems will coordinate with the Data Center Engineering (DCE) team and support specialty consultants to update and provide feedback based on Design (BOD). In supporting the delivery of projects, this position aligns team objectives, General Contractor (GC) and vendor management, and cross-group collaboration efforts with the DCD project strategy. This will result in the effective delivery of one of most important projects for Microsoft

The Senior Project Manager, Integrated Building Systems will be a relentless advocate for managing a safe site. The Building Systems Project Manager will also collaborate with Microsoft Security, Microsoft IT, Project Engineering, MS Cx teams, and other internal groups to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the Project.

In addition, this position will be responsible for coordinating and reviewing general contractor/vendor performance relative to equipment installation, networking and energization strategies. Other responsibilities include oversight with maintaining and improving project timelines. Additional tasks include participation in communications plans, and community involvement with support from Data Center Operations (DCOPs), and Data Center Services.

Responsibilities

  • Review and become familiar with all network environments and system configurations, with emphasis on system installation, documenting, and enforcing system standards.

  • If needed to assist with designing and implementing solutions to improve existing design/infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with Cloud Operations, DCE, DCE and IT teams to provide on-site physical support for successful system implementations.

  • Track and audit asset and component inventory at the data center locations.

  • Assist with all efforts requiring local presence within the data center including equipment racking, cabling, labeling, troubleshooting, and shipping of assets.

  • Engage GC/Subcontractors/Vendor/Manufacturers reps during installations/Cx activities.

  • Follow infrastructure project planning and implementation processes.

  • Ensure that industry’s best practices and methodologies are applied during the deployment, integration, and Cx support of DC environments.

  • Act as a point of contact to resolve datacenter issues and projects.

  • Work non-standard hours to meet project timelines and commitments.

  • Attend or participate in product training sessions and classes in order to broaden skillset

  • Assist with adjacent hyperscale providers, such as Azure and EC2, used in a hybrid cloud design.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 12+ years related technical engineering experience with the development of Data Center construction projects.

Other Requirements:

  • These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Technical Engineering or related field AND 15+ years related experience.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

  • 15+ year's experience working on data center projects.

  • Experience utilizing CAD software in mechanical design principles, fluid dynamics, pressure vessel design, pumps and compressors, mechanical vibration and shock, valve and manifold design, material compatibility, manufacturing processes, and validation.

  • Experience in the electronics industry specifically related to high-powered liquid cooled servers.

  • Experience with assessing material compatibility, corrosion, and biocontamination of fluid loops.

  • Experience with pump design, fluid loop sensors / controls, heat exchanger design, prototyping, tooling design, and high-volume manufacturing of electronic enclosures.

Construction Project Management IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $124,800 - $266,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $159,000 - $292,200 per year.
