Job Title: Consumer Loan Underwriter, Consumer Loan Department
Location: Main Office
Status: Full-Time (40 hours a week, some Saturdays required)
Reports to: Candace Thompson -- Consumer Loan Department Manager
Position Purpose
Responsible for reviewing, and processing applications for indirect, consumer, short-term mortgage, second mortgage, home equity, credit card, and overdraft account loans. Evaluates loan applications and approves those that meet initial lending criteria and are within approved lending limits. Presents loan requests above lending limit for approval as per loan policy. Ensures members and prospective members are promptly and professionally served. Analyzes loan application packet for opportunities to provide applicants with additional products and services.
Essential Duties, Skills & Abilities

``` - Evaluates loan applications, credit criteria and computes debt ratios. Verifies employment, income, and determines the value of collateral. Approves loans within limits of authority and notifies submitting employees of loan decisions. Requests additional information if required. - Ensures each loan is promptly and properly prepared, documented, processed, and approved. - Calculates terms, finance charges, and insurance on loans for proper disclosure on promissory notes. - Ensures lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Company policies and are legally compliant. Ensures loan requests are properly documented.

This includes the mining of credit report data to discover potential product offerings - Ensure that all information and transactions regarding credit union members are kept confidential. Maintain the security of the work area and keep it organized and neat in appearance. - Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors. - Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Promote a professional appearance and attitude. - Basic computer operating skills such as email, Microsoft Office, etc. - Demonstrates meticulous attention to detail.
Experience
2-3 years of consumer lending experience (preferred).
Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations.
Knowledge of mortgage lending laws and regulations.
Education
College degree preferred
