Employer has an opening for a Part-time Bakery Clerk. SAFETY AND SANITATION Is aware of and adheres to all safety, security and accident prevention procedures including using common sense and good judgment to maintain the highest level of safety for self, other team members and guests. Reports unsafe conditions, uses equipment and materials properly and determines appropriate action within guidelines. Maintains the equipment and physical appearance of the department, including selling and back room areas, to ensure they meet company maintenance, sanitation and safety standards, as well as the government regulatory agencies guidelines at all times. Continually assists in maintaining proper physical appearance of outside perimeters of store to assure cleanliness and safety of all. Knows proper procedures for and immediately reports all equipment problems, spills, accidents or emergencies to the department merchant or a member of the executive staff. Have knowledge of the layout and the location of safety and emergency equipment. Consistently participates in open communication with team members on a regular basis promoting a high level of morale within departments and store. Shares and accepts ideas for department and store profitability and guest service. Continually solicits guest feedback to help improve sales and service. 2. Has knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, programs and directives. Refers to Team Member Handbook continually to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Promotes a harassment-free environment, and immediately reports any potential legal situation to management. 3. Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members. Attends departmental, store and company meetings as required; contributes to profits and revenues and meets productivity standards. 4. Capable of pricing, dating, and wrapping or bagging of all bakery products in accordance with the department merchant's and store's policies. 5. Capable of recognizing the quality of and distinguishing between the many different bakery products. 6. Capable of filling, arranging, rotating and merchandising displays and display cases within the Bakery Department. 7. Price and code date all bakery products clearly and accurately. 8. Receives special orders properly and uses suggestive selling methods when possible. 9. Maintains attractive and appealing cases and displays for increased sales. Maintains product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses. 10. Possesses knowledge of bakery items, descriptions and ingredients so as to better serve our guests and answer any questions that might arise. POSITION REQUIREMENTS COMMUNICATION: Ability to write, speak, hear and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals. COMPUTER: Basic computer skills preferred. EDUCATION: High School diploma or general education degree or equivalent; or related job experience and/or training are required. EQUIPMENT: May be required to use or operate box cutters, knives, bread slicer, and other power driven bakery equipment. EXPERIENCE Experience as bakery clerk or other related clerk positions preferred. MATH: Basic math skills preferred. PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, twist, and bend; hands to fingers to handle or feel: repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl. Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting. Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders required. Required to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. REASON ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form or when helping resolve a team member or guest concern.
