Actalent Scada Engineer in Midvale, Utah
Actalent is currently seeking a skilled SCADA Engineer for a position in Midvale, UT. This person will be responsible for the successful completion of assigned projects and for maintaining and improving client relationships. These projects will involve SCADA, automation, and communications for utility and industrial/commercial clients, covering conventional and renewable generation facilities, substations, and transmission and distribution systems.
Responsibilities
Design and configure network and communication paths for RTUs, IEDs, HMIs, PLCs, and other SCADA system equipment within the substation or facility.
Specify and design communication networks, ensuring data security and availability.
Develop basic specifications for fiber optic, microwave, power line carrier, or radio communication paths.
Travel to project sites to troubleshoot and commission network and communication systems.
Develop, document, and implement logic and control schemes for power system equipment.
Create programs on various platforms to implement control schemes.
Test and commission control schemes at project sites.
Prepare points lists of all data to be transferred between control centers and controlled apparatus.
Assign and program data addressing and routing information.
Develop HMI screens and test and commission data transfer schemes at project sites.
Essential Skills
5+ years of SCADA and automation engineering experience related to power utility level at the transmission level and renewable projects.
Experience with 34.5KV and higher.
Proficiency in applicable network and communication protocols such as DNP, Modbus, SEL Communication Protocol, IEC, TCP/IP, UDP, and Ethernet.
Experience with applicable logic and control platforms including SEL RTAC, NovaTech Orion, GE-D20, PLCs, IEC, Lua, and Python.
Proficiency in data acquisition software such as Wonderware, Clearview, AcSELerator RTAC, NovaTech NCD/Inkscape, Visual Basic, OSIPI, and Python scripting.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an applicable degree.
PE license preferred, with the expectation to pursue or obtain it.

This role offers a flexible work environment with the option for a hybrid, in-office, or remote schedule, depending on the candidate's location. The office environment in Salt Lake City (SLC) includes multiple discipline groups, such as environmental and renewable groups, with 40-50 people in the office. The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $135000.00/yr.
