Role Headline

This position performs and/or leads electrical and engineering work related to the application planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of distributed energy systems and related technology solutions. It leads as project engineer or participates in teams working on emerging technologies associated with

distributed generation of various renewable fuels (solar, cogeneration, etc.); battery energy storage; grid interface technologies and protocols; microgrids and other related approaches.

Responsibilities of the Role

  • Provide lead technical oversight for a strategic project executed by DES/EPS

  • Drives and influences technology, technical value streams or technical processes within own field of expertise according to a strategic roadmap that impacts the business

  • Typically advises and supports Business Units, Segments, or Corporate Technology Fields, respectively

  • Takes ownership for their technology field including disruptive technologies

  • Reviews customer RFP’s, developing solution concepts around Siemens products, determining solution costs, quantifying project execution risks, attending plant walk downs or customer meetings, and developing actual proposal documents.

· Coordinates with Measurement and Verification team to monitor project performance and provide inputs for retro-commissioning and other energy services.

· Participates in client meetings and presentations.

· Supports Lead PM in daily activities including providing oversight of all subcontractors installation work and design submittals and as-builts

Qualifications and Experience

· Bachelor’s in electrical engineering (Power Systems preferred). MSEE preferred; other engineering degrees will be considered

· Minimum 10 years of experience with electrical solutions such as, but not limited to, substation design, containerized electrical solutions, packaged inverters, LV and MV switchgear, MCCs, GSU and Aux Transformers, Protection Systems, Generators, ISO phase bus, generator breakers, UPS systems, bus ducts, panel boards, switchboards, VFDs, PLCs, Lithium Ion batteries, plant controls, SCADA and related equipment

· Experience in electrical distribution engineering and applying grid code requirements for integration of solar PV, battery energy storage, wind farms, microgrids, conventional and stand-by generation (including paralleling), and electric vehicles charging infrastructure.

· Experience and demonstrated expertise with behind the meter or utility scale energy storage systems

· Demonstrated self-starter and strong leader with sound judgement and ability to identify and develop solutions to complex electrical engineering problems. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

· Demonstrated ability to recognize, develop, and implement methods for technology improvements.

· Experience and demonstrated ability coordinating the efforts of multi-discipline, multi-agency project teams to complete work.

· Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex information for non-technical audiences.

Working Relationships

· Report to lead PM and project Lead in the US

· Works with Energy Engineers, Performance Assurance Specialists, Project Managers, Sales Account Executives, Service Account Engineer, Service Technicians, Service Fitters, Energy Operations, and National Operations Managers.

Work Environment:

· Time will be spent at customer location which may have a moderate to high noise levels and regular distractions with moderate physical requirements such as reaching, climbing, standing and bending.

· Ability to work extended hours occasionally, as required

Impact:

· Position is for a project specific need which is expected to last 24-28 months but a well-qualified candidate will be considered for a permanent position with the local team or a global role ahead of project completion.
