Purpose of the Position:

To work alongside the project team and develop a robust receivership process for the plant facilities, water treatment and water recycling facility, and Plant asset-maintenance. As the plant startup transitions to steady state operations, this role manages the functional areas of Environmental Control, Facilities operations, and Production Support Maintenance. Also, this position will manage projects and activities as directed by the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities Start-Up Phase

  • Partners with HR and other relevant stakeholders to create and implement a hiring and development plan for the facilities and maintenance group.

  • Work with the project team and GSM to ensure Spares for all production equipment are integrated with the plant maintenance management system and the first batch of spares are ordered in time to support the plant’ production target for 2025.

  • Develop and execute a process to receive facility equipment, building facilities.

  • Work in concert with the EHS manager to ensure that the third party owned and operated water treatment facilities meet Corning’ environmental compliance requirement.

Steady State Operations

  • Set and meet department and project timelines, budgets, and performance standards.

  • In coordination with the EHS manager, the Facility Operations groups, manage permitting and environmental compliance activities for the factory.

  • Assure safety and hygiene excellence through recognition of safety hazards, review of engineering designs, training, plant and corporate audits, diligence in housekeeping, and continued education in the new and evolving state and federal laws.

  • Identify and support specialized maintenance requirements as part of the Production Support team which consists of calibrations and specialized maintenance tasks.

  • Create processes to define and track performance metrics centered around cost of maintenance, equipment downtime and equipment capability.

  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and minimize equipment downtime using world class practices like TPM, predictive maintenance.

  • Oversee and maintain the overall plant facility systems to meet world class standards.

  • Participate and comply with corporate initiatives as required.

  • Develop a plan that enables the Plant to achieve World Class safety including meeting and exceeding all corporate and division safety targets.

  • Develop systems that require Safety review and approval before introduction of any new chemical or equipment to the factory.

Work Hours

  • Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm)

  • Occasional support may be needed due to managing a 24/7 plant structure

Education & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a focus in Mechanical Equipment Engineering

  • 8+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory position

  • Experience in HVAC systems, electrical and manufacturing, with focus on maintenance systems and procedures.

  • Ability to interpret CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings and technical equipment manuals.

  • Computer literate, particularly with Microsoft Office products (Excel and Word), CMMS programs.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in building construction,

  • PEx Green Belt certification

  • Experience working on a green field project

  • Solid communication skills and able to work with all levels of the organization

  • Team player able to lead others effectively and efficiently

  • Ability to create cohesion within team and counterpart teams

  • Strong conflict resolution

The range for this position is $157,258.00 - $216,231.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
