The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works has awarded our team the contract to provide Construction Engineering and Inspection services for the new South-Dade Bus Maintenance Facility on a 20-acre site at SW 127 Ave and Biscayne Drive. This innovative, electrification project will include a two-story maintenance and operations facility with approximately 54k s.f. for maintenance parts storage and approximately 27k s.f. for dispatch, driver, and training areas. Bus parking deck will house approximately 100 articulated Battery Electric Buses.
Sign-On Bonus may be considered for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
Overseeing construction personnel working on a large-scale construction site.
Ensuring construction work put in place matches construction plans and is completed in accordance with contract documents and CDM Smith quality standards.
Identifying deficiencies in construction and resolving issues with internal and external team members and authorities involved in the planning, design, and execution of construction activities.
Documenting deficiencies, expected cost overruns, materials issues, and any other related construction issue or risk related to area of oversight.
Preparing related reports (ex: monthly progress reports, etc.). Maintaining daily report of construction activities.
Providing technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Reviewing the work of more junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or Vocational Technical degree or equivalent.
18 years of related experience.
Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications:
\tCertified Construction Manager (CCM)
\tOSHA 30 certification
\tUnderstanding of survey verification deliverables
\tProficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Bluebeam, & Adobe, mobile devices such as tablet computers, and CM software programs.
\tFamiliarity with engineering, architectural, building and construction documents.
\tStrong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to maintain good working relationships with project team, clients, and contractors.
\tAbility to anticipate problems, proactively develop solutions to overcome those problems and discern when escalation is necessary.
\tSome flexibility to work hours dictated by the Contractor’s schedule
\tAbility to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and on-site when the contractor is working.

Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Advanced knowledge of arithmetic. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Ability to adapt to new technologies and quickly learn new computer, smartphone or related applications and programs. Expert knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction. Ability to read, understand, interpret and explain construction plans and drawings, contract provisions, and specifications. Expert knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction.
Background Check and Drug Testing Information:
CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as “CDM Smith”) reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions. Additional Compensation:
