Summary The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) leads the nation's effort to protect the United States from terrorism by integrating, analyzing and sharing information to drive whole-of-government action and achieve our national CT objectives. Responsibilities NCTC's Directorate of Intelligence (DI) is seeking an energetic officer to serve as a Tradecraft Reviewer on the Tradecraft Cell in the DI's Analytic and Multimedia Production Group. This position requires the skills of a motivated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills who can work collaboratively with analysts, managers, designers, cartographers, and Intelligence Community (IC) stakeholders to ensure that consumers receive the highest quality finished intelligence in a timely fashion. Review all-source analytic products-including for the President's Daily Brief and the Terrorism Intelligence Brief-to ensure that they adhere to NCTC/DI tradecraft principles as well as for clarity, brevity, organization, and logic. Work closely with authoring analysts and their managers to ensure that intelligence publications provide compelling and convincing information to support arguments contained therein. Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with intelligence officers to provide direct input in substantive and procedural processes for producing Community-coordinated intelligence analysis. Represent NCTC/DI and lead corporate initiatives on analytic tradecraft- and production-related issues within the Directorate, Center, and IC. Review and analyze written drafts using expert application of analytic principles and tradecraft; review articles to identify key information items and actionable messages based on knowledge of subject and tradecraft principles, and ensure that each article is concise and easily understood by the full range of potential readers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a current permanent ODNI employee. OR Must be a current permanent Federal employee Must have supervisory approval to apply to the Joint Duty Assignment. Must be currently at the grade level of the detail. No Temporary Promotion Opportunity The program does not apply to members of the Military service or contractors. Qualifications Previous experience writing finished analytic intelligence products. Superior analytical and critical thinking skills, including superior ability to think strategically. Superior oral and written communication skills and superior ability to conduct independent research, filter and synthesize analytic data, and produce clear, logical, and concise intelligence products. Expert knowledge of the high priority intelligence issues and items of interest to intelligence publications and customers. Superior interpersonal skills and superior ability to work effectively with individuals at both the working level and at the highest levels of government; confidence and effectiveness in working with government officials as well as with senior Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) officers. Superior time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks with competing deadlines and superior ability to work effectively under extremely tight deadlines. At least two years of professional experience at a national agency, service component, or combatant command.
