This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities Perform traverse and Global Positioning Surveys (GPS) surveys to determine horizontal position Plan schedule, and direct the various phases of pre-data acquisition activities. Perform accurate and precise field stakeout of proposed engineering and construction data to construct proposed projects Perform hydrographic and topographic surveys for mapping and field sites studies Perform administrative duties, daily work reports, conduct and document meetings and complete vehicle and survey equipment reports Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as a survey technician that plans, directs and conducts various survey assignments, assists higher-graded technicians and engineers on projects and provides survey information to internal divisions and external agencies, located at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, which is a subordinate installation of JMC. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Survey Technician: Specialized experience is technical work which provided the knowledge and skills needed for work in the type of surveying involved. It must have required the use of the pertinent instruments and techniques of surveying. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include, but are not limited to, work as an engineering technician, soil conservation technician, or construction inspector. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing topographic and hydrographic surveys for mapping and site studies; experience with GPS geodetic surveys to establish both horizontal and vertical high-order survey control points; experience performing stake out points for projects; and/or experience with the set up and operation of survey equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's Degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as surveying, engineering, construction, or industrial technology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. This is an AR3135 Bargaining Unit Position Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 6 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
