Pet Paradise Resort & Day Spa Veterinary Assistant / Vet Technician in Matthews, North Carolina

The Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician providesquality, compassionate carewhile maximizing productivity.Maintains medical chartsand completespreparatory procedures.Providescomfort to pets and their familieswhile delivering exceptional customer service.Actively listensanddocumentsaccurate medical history. Will confidentlyexplain basic diagnosis(ear infection, skin infection, intestinal parasites, etc.) to client. Licensed Technicianswill have the ability to perform dental prophylaxis, place IVCs, administer medications, and assist with surgeries.
Qualifications:* The Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician will havelab and medical records knowledgesuch as the ability to read a fecal float, fecal direct, and ear/skin cytology, understands SOAP.Comfortable with in-house hematology equipment or reference lab (what blood tubes are needed) etc.Comfortable with anesthesia monitoring.Knowledge of basic canine/feline vaccinesand basic vital signs for dogs and cats. *Licensed Technicianswill haveat least six months prior experience as a veterinary assistant/technician.Skills in Phlebotomy. Experience with dental prophylaxis is a plus.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
