Upper Peninsula Health Plan Computer Technician in Marquette, Michigan

Maintains information systems desktops, laptops, mobile devices, phones, printers, and video conferencing equipment; provides end-user support and training; and helps maintain documentation related to installing, configuring, and moving equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Follows established Upper Peninsula Health Plan (UPHP) policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.

     

  2. Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, email, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.

     

  3. Prepares and submits vendor warranty claims, parts, and documentation associated with warranty repairs.

     

  4. Assists with the installation and ongoing configuration of departmental equipment; manages timelines to ensure projects are delivered in an agreed time frame; escalates issues as necessary to the Network Administrator or Manager.

     

  5. Performs preventive maintenance for computer, communication, and peripheral equipment.

     

  6. Provides training, support and assistance to internal and remote system users; troubleshoots and/or resolves problems.

     

  7. Sets up video conferencing equipment, laptops, and projectors as needed for meetings.

     

  8. Performs end-user backups & restores and logs all backup activities.

     

  9. Undertakes special projects and assignments and attends meetings as needed.

     

  10. Provides and maintains up to date written documentation of all activities; logs all work performed in help desk system as appropriate.

     

  11. Maintains confidentiality of client data.

     

  12. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

     

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum:

Associate degree in computer science or related field; three (3) years of relevant experience in 

lieu of a degree will be considered

 
Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

 
Experience:
Minimum:

One (1) year of experience in information technology (IT) support; relevant post-secondary coursework will be considered in lieu of professional IT support experience.

 
Preferred:

Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in information technology (IT) support;  

 

Required Skills:

Advanced understanding of PC troubleshooting and repair

Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences

Ability to adhere to deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively

Ability to be flexible in demanding situations

Computer and/or keyboarding skills required

Excellent human relation and oral/written communication

Excellent organizational abilities

 
Desired Skills:

Experience supporting phone systems, email servers and web servers

Experience supporting Microsoft 365/TEAMS
