The Lead Patient Registration Associate monitors and coordinates the daily operations of assigned unit. Responsible for coordinating patient flow and adjusting work assignments to minimize patient wait times. Ensures registrations are worked according to established policies and procedures to meet data quality goals, comply with department policies and procedures optimize point of service cash collections and cash flow, ad provide efficient and appropriate utilization of resources. Acts as a resource for team members by assisting with coaching, training, orientation of new hires, professional development, compliance with department and MDRH policies and procedures, performance feedback and evaluations, change management, and cost containment efforts.
In this role you'll be doing:
Facilitates workflow of Admissions and PBX team by coaching, answering questions, providing guidance, troubleshooting and leading by example.
Obtains accurate and complete demographic information on all patients.
Trains all new incoming employees and keep the staff updated on all procedures and processes.
Obtains and collects required deductibles, co-payments or full cash payments.
Enters required data in the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information to ensure appropriate revenue routing.
Completes on-line Medicare Screening Pathway accurately.
Ensures that all pre-certifications are completed within the specific time frames and obtain tracking number when applicable.
Contact the Director for Cash Flat Rates Agreements, documenting the information in the ADT system.
Identifies the appropriate payor source (plan ID and financial information) to ensure appropriate revenue routing.
Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records. Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
Assist with Quality Control activities to be certain demographic and financial information is accurate, benefits are verified, and insurance coverage is accurately documented.
Identifies the appropriate payor source (plan ID and financial information) to ensure appropriate revenue routing.
Works extended scheduled and covers weekends to meet needs of department 24/7
Cross trained in all areas of unit.
Assist with staffing needs to cover sick calls and another department needs.
Assist Director preparing and posting work schedule for ER and Admitting.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Shift: Day, Evening and Night 8-hour shifts
High School diploma or the equivalent (preferred).
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing (required).
Additional languages (preferred).
Excellent customer service skills (required).
Basic computer knowledge (required)
At least three (3) years of Hospital Admission and/or ER Registration (preferred).
Strong collection skills (preferred).
Medical Terminology (preferred).
Knowledge of online verification systems (preferred).
