Description
The Last Mile team within Amazon is looking for an experienced Senior Vehicle Technical Expert to drive Amazon .technical fleet capabilities. The Senior Technical Vehicle Expert will be responsible for defining the product strategy and optimizing the technical attributes of our AMXL last-mile vehicle fleet. The role is responsible for evaluating both Internal Combustion and Electric Vehicles, setting up testing and evaluation processes, designing the strategy for new products and partnerships, and establishing roadmaps with our auto OEM and upfit partners.
Key job responsibilities
Own the optimization of technical attributes of our expanding vehicle fleet
Define and optimize the technical attributes and product roadmap of the AMXL last mile vehicle fleet
Generate buy-in for the EU AMXL vehicle product vision with leadership and partner teams.
Prioritize, plan and execute AMXL vehicle program/sprojects.
Manage program execution and ensure that the project delivery is to the appropriate levels of quality and in line with its target date.
Work cross functionally with R&D, operations, and other product management functions.
Partner across a wide range of third party partners, including legacy OEMs, startups, up-fitters and body builders.
Create the vision and product roadmap to integrate new technologies to future proof AMXL last mile vehicle fleet.
Own a full program budget.
Drive continuous improvement throughout the full lifecycle of vehicles, leveraging in-field leanings.
Basic Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering or a similar relevant field
- Extensive experience in technical program management, technical development or related technical roles in automotive or a related industry
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
- Able to travel 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or M.Sc. in Engineering or a similar relevant field
- Strong customer focus
- Experience in managing complex technical programs with multiple internal and external actors
- Experience in aggregating information and communicating effectively to internal and external stakeholders, incl. Amazon senior management
- A record of accomplishment in delivering results in a scrappy, fast-paced environment
- A history of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
- Comfortable challenging internal stakeholders on existing practices and external partners in their limitations and capabilities.
- Strong ownership and bias for action; ability to internalize goals and work independently to create appropriate action plans for those goals.
- Strong analytical orientation; comfort using databases and analytical tools and making data-based decisions.
- Strong project management capabilities; An ability to assess risks, make decisions, manage execution and report accordingly.
