ATCC Senior Procurement Specialist in Manassas, Virginia

Ready to shape the future of science and global health?ATCC, a pioneer in biomaterials manufacturing, is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to work a hybrid schedule (2 days per week in office in Manassas, VA) focusing on the strategic acquisition of goods and services essential for daily operations and long-term projects. The Senior Procurement Specialist works on problems of diverse scope resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.

This Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for the resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility, and specifications in the procurement of goods and services for the IT category while contributing cost savings, partnerships with suppliers and other value-added activities to support customer needs and expectations. This role requires specialized depth and/or breadth of technology expertise and will be responsible for coordinating work and collaborating with business and various workstreams (ERP, contract rationalization, Facilities, QA, IT, Legal). The position will assist with the development and implementation of spend analysis, supplier performance metrics, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.

The Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for gathering specifications and purchasing supplies, equipment, and services for the organization. They oversee the entire procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. Their expertise lies in negotiating contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and managing supplier relationships. Additionally, they analyze market trends, supplier performance, and cost management to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies.

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers.

  • Supplier Management:

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues.

  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Streamline procurement processes.

  • Seek innovative solutions.

  • IT Expertise:

  • Understand IT contract terms and conditions especially regarding data security and ownership, SaaS/Cloud agreements, Support and Maintenance Agreements, Service Level Agreements, etc.

  • Lead purchasing strategies for the IT category.

  • Collaboration:

  • Work closely with technology and business stakeholders.

  • Ensure superior customer service.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' sourcing/procurement experience or equivalent.

  • Strong negotiation skills and IT sourcing knowledge.

  • Strategic mindset with quantitative, problem-solving, project management, and negotiation skills and a strong desire for progress and continuous improvement.

  • Understanding of, and experience with, legal terms and conditions and experience negotiating information technology terms and agreements such as SaaS/Cloud agreements, Support and Maintenance Agreements, Service Level Agreements, etc.
