The role you’ll contribute:

The Workforce Management Engineer is responsible for the facilitation of multiple department improvement efforts centered around optimization of workforce resources. Will apply a variety of improvement methodologies (including design thinking, agile, advanced analytics, human factors engineering, lean) and group management techniques to support individuals and teams through improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with leadership to decrease costs, reduce variability, reduce errors/defects, and involve all appropriate personnel. Prepares reports and recommendations for key stakeholders and coordinates implementation whenever possible. Will provide mentoring to analysts around the use of data for decision making and will oversee the tasks of analysts assigned to assist in the improvement efforts.

Success requires the flexibility, innovation, and creativity as well as an ability to lead in a constructive, non-biased and collaborative manner, reinforcing positive work relationships with Finance, Human Resource and Operations Leadership and serving as a trusted resource for campus and system leadership in workforce management matters; interacting to provide relevant, accurate, and timely information to support our leader's ability to make informed decisions around the utilization of workforce resources in alignment with our patient and organizational needs. Individual is expected to continuously learn and apply new continuous improvement methodologies and to spread successful innovation through the organization.

  • Performs deep dives into data and processes.

  • Supports enhancement of Leader Toolkits

  • Assist with providing training to front line staff.

·Oversees improvement initiatives using problem-solving methods (eg. Lead, Six Sigma, and others) across multiple, interdependent sub-projects.

·Develop operational workflows that depict current processes and recommended process improvement options that lead to improved operations and business processes.

·Collects, organizes, and generates data and analytics to assist in the formation of the problem statement and solving approaches.

·Provide leadership for work process redesign and performance outcomes measures in targeted processes to reduce risk and eliminate failures to failsafe the process.

·Designs systems to monitor improvements to ensure performance is sustained and effective.

·Participates in formulating the design and direction of project management standards and policies within the department.

·Leads development of standard project management tools and methodologies.

·Provides conclusions and recommendations to senior management and other leaders.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·Ability to relate operational and financial performance in the healthcare environment.

·High-level interpersonal skills. Able to work collaboratively and tactfully with multi-disciplinary and diverse teams across department lines, management levels, and business entities.

·High degree of emotional intelligence and self-management ability. Able to remain calm, focused, and productive in stressful situations, conflicts.

·Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills.

·Strong attention to detail skills

·Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in understandable terms to all levels of staff.

·Must possess the ability to apply quantitative and qualitative process improvement techniques and perform advanced data analysis.

·Excellent reasoning, problem solving, prioritization, analytical and business judgement.

·Must possess the ability to apply quantitative and qualitative process improvement techniques and perform advanced data analysis.

·Effective computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel, MS Project, Visio

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

·Working knowledge of healthcare reporting, standards development, costing methodologies, utilization measurements and financial modeling

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·Bachelor’s degree in industrial or related engineering, nursing business administration (with quality/operations improvement emphasis), healthcare administration, organizational science, or a related field

· 1 years of experience in healthcare operational/financial management, quality/process improvement, six-sigma or lean practices, risk assessment, change management or project/standardization work.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

·Minimum three years of experience developing and managing business process mapping projects.
