U W-MADISON DIV. CONTINUING STUDIES Plumber Apprentice in MADISON, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a registered apprenticeship program leading to journeyworker status as a Plumber. The Plumber Apprentice position will involve learning and applying a full range of plumbing skills. This position works on a team of highly skilled journeyworkers providing critical support to research and educational functions on campus. The apprentice program is typically five years of progressive work experience coupled with classroom education. This is a registered apprenticeship program recognized by the State of Wisconsin. Responsibilities: Assists with maintenance, repairs, assembling, and installing plumbing systems, fixtures, appliances, and equipment, in new and existing facilities. Works to meet the specifications and approved plumbing codes to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities. Attends all required training as stated in the apprenticeship program agreement. 20% Trains to perform skilled maintenance, repairs, and installs all types of plumbing fixtures, appurtenance such as, but not limited to, toilets, basins, urinals, floor drains, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, laboratory benches, laboratory equipment, safety showers, safety eye washes, and apparatus 15% Trains to perform skilled maintenance, repairs, and installs all types of plumbing systems, including, but not limited to, sanitary, storm, chemical waste lines and vents, sanitary and storm sewers, gas, water systems (hot, cold, soft and reverse osmosis) and laboratory services (gas, air, vacuum) 15% Trains to perform skilled maintenance, repairs and installs appliances and equipment, including, but not limited to, hot water heaters, softeners, stills, reverse osmosis units, pumps, dishwashers and garbage disposals 5% Trains to interpret blueprints and drawings to assess specifications and calculate the materials and equipment required. Participates in discussions with customer/client regarding project plan. 5% Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs 10% Trains to preform skilled plumbing constructions, remodels, demolitions, and repairs according to established trade...
